Ways to Teach Kids to Eat Healthy Foods

Ways to Teach Kids to Eat Healthy Foods

Ways to Teach Kids to Eat Healthy Foods

Teaching kids to eat healthy foods when they are younger will help them practice good habits that will last a lifetime. As parents, caregivers, and educators, it’s important to guide children toward making nutritious food choices that will benefit their physical and mental well-being. Below are some effective ways to teach kids to eat healthy foods.

Lead by Example

Children are more likely to adopt healthy eating habits when they see adults practicing them. As a parent or caregiver, it’s important to lead by example. If you prioritize healthy eating in your daily routine, your child will be more inclined to do the same. You can help them love eating healthier by making nutritious meals together as a family and showing them how enjoyable and rewarding healthy eating can be.

Make Healthy Foods Fun

One of the best ways to teach kids to eat healthy foods is to make them fun and visually appealing. Use cookie cutters to shape fruits and vegetables into fun shapes, or create a colorful salad with various fruits and veggies. Let children help in the kitchen, allowing them to choose ingredients or creatively arrange the meal. The more interactive the process, the more likely they will be excited about eating healthy foods.

Introduce New Foods Gradually

Some kids don't like to try new foods. Try introducing new foods gradually instead of forcing them to eat something they don’t like. Offer small portions of unfamiliar vegetables or fruits alongside their favorite meals. Over time, they’ll get used to new flavors and textures and may decide they like them.

Educate About Nutrition

Teach kids about the benefits of healthy foods in an age-appropriate way. Use simple, relatable language to explain how foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and proteins help their bodies grow strong, boost their energy, and improve their mood. The more kids understand the “why” behind healthy eating, the more motivated they will be to make healthier choices.

Make Healthy Snacks Accessible

Instead of keeping junk food readily available, stock up on healthy snacks that are easy to grab. Fruits, nuts, yogurt, and whole-grain crackers are great options. Having healthy choices within reach makes it easier for kids to snack wisely. Keep a bowl of fresh fruit on the counter or stock the fridge with pre-cut veggies to encourage healthy snacking habits.

Involve Them in Meal Planning

Involving kids in the family meal-planning process can give them a sense of ownership and excitement about the food they eat. Take them grocery shopping and let them pick out fruits and vegetables they want to try. Ask them to help decide what healthy meals to make during the week. When children feel included in the decision-making process, they are more likely to appreciate and eat the healthy meals they’ve helped create.

Limit Sugary Drinks

Sugary drinks like sodas, fruit juices, and energy drinks are a major contributor to unhealthy eating habits. Teach children the importance of drinking water or milk instead. If your child prefers flavored drinks, consider offering flavored water with natural ingredients like lemon or cucumber for a healthier alternative.

Teaching kids to eat healthy foods doesn’t have to be difficult. By leading by example, making healthy meals fun, introducing new foods gradually, educating them about nutrition, and involving them in meal planning, you can instill good eating habits that last. The key is consistency, patience, and making healthy eating an enjoyable and rewarding experience for both you and your child. By fostering a positive relationship with food, you set your child up for a lifetime of good health.

Overcoming Shame: A Scriptural Approach

Overcoming Shame: A Scriptural Approach
Overcoming Shame: A Scriptural Approach

Overcoming Shame: A Scriptural Approach

Shame can often feel like a heavy weight we carry, making us believe we are unworthy or inadequate. However, the Bible offers insights into overcoming shame, providing a pathway to healing and restoration. Let's explore Scripture's powerful messages on overcoming shame and finding freedom in our identity as beloved children of God.

Understanding Shame through Scripture

Shame is mentioned throughout the Bible, often as a response to sin or vulnerability. In Genesis 3:10, after Adam and Eve disobeyed God, Adam said, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” This response highlights the connection between shame and fear, marking the entrance of shame into humanity.

But God didn't leave Adam and Eve in their shame. Although there were consequences for their disobedience, God provided clothing for them, covering their shame. When we sin, we must suffer the consequences of our actions, but God doesn't leave us in our shame.

Embracing Forgiveness

One of the first steps in overcoming shame is to embrace God's forgiveness. In 1 John 1:9, we read, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” Acknowledging our shortcomings can be daunting, but it is crucial for healing. When we confess our sins to God, we are met with grace instead of condemnation, setting us free from the shackles of shame.

In Psalm 103:12, we find further comfort: “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” This image of distance illustrates how completely God removes our sins, allowing us to step into a new identity in Christ, free from the burdens of the past.

Finding Identity in Christ

Overcoming shame also involves understanding our identity in Christ. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, we are reminded, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” Embracing our identity as new creations shifts our perspective from shame to acceptance.

When we view ourselves through God’s eyes, we recognize that we are His beloved. Galatians 4:7 states, “So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are His child, God has made you also an heir.” Understanding that we are heirs in God’s Kingdom fosters a sense of worth that shame cannot undermine.

The Role of Community

Overcoming shame is not a journey meant to be walked alone. Community plays a critical role in our healing process. In James 5:16, we are encouraged to “confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.” Sharing our struggles with trusted friends or mentors can lighten the load of shame, reminding us that we are not alone in our experiences.

Shame may whisper lies about our worthiness, but Scripture offers a refuge of truth and hope. By embracing God’s forgiveness, realizing our identity in Christ, and engaging in supportive community, we can dismantle the power of shame in our lives. Remember, you are deeply loved and valued by God, and He desires for you to walk in freedom. Let God’s truth replace your shame, and allow His light to shine brightly through your life. Overcoming shame is not just about letting go; it’s about embracing the abundant life that God has for you.

If you would like to dig deeper into overcoming shame, I have a 21 day devotional for you.

Shame is one of the enemy’s most powerful tools. It whispers lies, telling us we are unworthy, unloved, and beyond redemption. It makes us hide—from God, from others, and even from ourselves. Unlike conviction, which convicts us to turn back to God, guilt and shame keeps us stuck, convinced that we will never be good enough.

But that is not God’s design for you.

Throughout Scripture, we see how God deals with shame. From the very beginning, when Adam and Eve covered themselves in the garden, God responded with both justice and mercy. He didn’t leave them in their shame—He clothed them (Genesis 3:21). Over and over, we see a pattern: shame tries to define people, but God offers redemption.

When Jesus came, He didn’t just carry our sins—He bore our shame (Hebrews 12:2). He took on everything that made us feel unworthy and replaced it with His righteousness. In Him, we are not just forgiven—we are made new.

This 21-day devotional is an invitation to walk in that truth. Each day, we will explore Scripture, uncover the lies shame has spoken over us, and replace them with God’s truth. You’ll find self-reflection questions to help you process and prayers to guide you into deeper intimacy with God.

If you’ve been carrying shame—whether from past mistakes, words spoken over you, or failures you can’t seem to forget—it’s time to lay it down. You are not your past. You are not your worst moment. You are a child of God, loved and fully accepted.

Over these 21 days, expect transformation. Expect healing. Expect to see yourself the way God sees you—free, whole, and unashamed.

Are you ready? Let’s begin.

Steps to Prepare Your Heart for Easter

Steps to Prepare Your Heart for Easter
Steps to Prepare Your Heart for Easter

Steps to Prepare Your Heart for Easter

As Easter approaches, many of us start to think about the traditions that make this season special. Beyond the colored eggs and bunnies, Easter is a holy time of spiritual reflection. Preparing our hearts for Easter involves more than egg hunts and celebrations; it’s a holy time to remember three things:  Jesus' suffering on the cross, Jesus' resurrection, and His ascension to Heaven.  It is through Jesus that we too can have eternal life.  As Resurrection Day approaches, here are several steps to prepare your heart for Easter.

Unplug and Reflect

It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, especially during holiday preparations. Take some time to unplug from your devices and distractions. Find a quiet space where you can think about what Easter means. Reflect on your spiritual journey over the past year. Consider journaling your thoughts or meditating on Scriptures that inspire you. This quiet time will help you quiet your heart and mind so you can focus on the true meaning of Easter.

This wooden Easter resurrection scene is available here.

Embrace Sacrifice

Easter is rooted in Jesus' ultimate sacrifice, which is the reason we celebrate this holiday. As you prepare for Easter, consider what you might sacrifice in your own life. This could be something as simple as giving up a bad habit or committing to volunteering your time. Embracing sacrifice helps us step outside ourselves and think of the ways we can serve others, mirroring the selflessness that Easter represents.

Engage in Prayer

Prayer is a powerful tool for preparing our hearts for any occasion, but it’s especially important as we approach Easter. Dedicate time each day leading up to Easter and every day of the year to prayer. If you don't know how to pray, prayer is simply a heartfelt conversation with God. Ask for guidance in your spiritual growth and the courage to embrace any changes you need to make in your life.

Study the Scriptures

Understanding the Biblical historical account of Easter will deepen your appreciation for the holiday. Set aside time to read passages related to Jesus’ journey leading up to his crucifixion and resurrection. Consider focusing on the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—as they provide different perspectives, and yet the same historical account of these crucial events. Reflect on the messages of hope, love, and redemption found in these stories. You may even want to join a Bible study group to discuss these themes with others, especially if you are new to understanding what Easter is all about.

Practice Forgiveness

As Easter symbolizes a new beginning, we need to let go of past grievances. Take time to reflect on any resentment or anger you may be holding onto. Forgiveness is not always easy, but it is liberating. By releasing these burdens, you are free to live peacefully.  Forgiveness allows you to let go of the clutter of past hurts and gives you room to heal.

Share Generosity

Easter is a time to practice generosity, both in spirit and action. Consider ways you can give back to your community, whether that’s volunteering at a local charity, donating to a cause, or simply reaching out to someone in need. Generosity keeps our hearts open and teaches us the importance of compassion, mirroring the love that was demonstrated through Jesus' life.

If you would like to go a little deeper into preparing your heart for Easter, I have a devotional journey for you.  Ressurection Day:  A 21-Day Devotional Journal.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of our faith—an event that changed everything. It is a victory over sin and death, a promise of new life, and an invitation to walk in the fullness of God’s power.

Yet, too often, we approach Resurrection Day as just another holiday rather than a transformational truth that shapes how we live every day.

This 21-day devotional journal is designed to guide you through a journey of reflection, renewal, and spiritual growth as you prepare your heart for Resurrection Day.

Whether you are seeking a deeper understanding of Christ’s victory, longing for renewal in your spiritual walk, or simply desiring to draw closer to God, this devotional will help you experience the resurrection in a fresh and powerful way.

Each day includes:

A Scripture passage to meditate on
A short devotional thought to inspire and challenge you
Space for personal reflection—write down what God is speaking to you
A prayer prompt to help you respond in faith

As you move through these 21 days, you will explore the hope, joy, peace, and power found in Christ’s resurrection. You will be reminded of His deep love for you, the victory He has secured, and the abundant life He calls you to live.

Let’s walk together on this journey toward Resurrection Day, allowing the truth of Jesus’ triumph to transform our hearts and lives. Are you ready to experience the power of the resurrection in a deeper way? Let’s begin!

Ways to Teach Kids About What Plants Need to Grow

Ways to Teach Kids About What Plants Need to Grow
Ways to Teach Kids About What Plants Need to Grow

Teaching kids about what plants need to grow is a fun and educational way to introduce them to nature and basic science concepts. Whether in the classroom or at home, hands-on activities can make learning engaging and memorable. In this post, we’ll explore effective ways to teach children about the essential elements plants need to thrive: sunlight, water, air, nutrients, and space.

1. Planting a Seed Experiment

One of the best ways to teach kids about plant growth is by letting them grow their own plants. Choose easy-to-grow seeds such as beans, sunflowers, or lettuce. Provide them with soil, small pots, and a watering can. Encourage children to observe their plants daily and discuss how sunlight, water, and soil affect growth.

Root Viewer Kit for Kids
This root viewer kit for kids is available here.

Variations of the Experiment:

  • Grow one plant with sunlight and another in darkness to show the importance of light.
  • Water one plant regularly and leave another dry to demonstrate the need for water.
  • Use different types of soil to see how nutrients impact growth.

This simple experiment allows kids to see firsthand how plants respond to different conditions.

2. The Role of Sunlight: Shadow and Growth Activity

Explain how plants use sunlight to make food through photosynthesis. Take kids outside and observe how plants lean toward sunlight. A fun experiment is to place a potted plant near a window and rotate it every few days. Kids will notice how the plant moves toward the light.

Paint and Plant Stoneware Flower Gardening Kit
This Paint and Plant Stoneware Flower Gardening Kit is available here.

For an interactive lesson, use flashlights to mimic the sun and show how light direction influences plant growth. This hands-on activity helps children understand why plants need sunlight.

3. Watering Fun: The Sponge Experiment

Water is crucial for plant survival, but too much or too little can be harmful. Teach kids about proper watering with a simple sponge experiment:

  1. Give each child a dry sponge and ask them to pour a little water on it.
  2. Observe how the sponge absorbs water, similar to how roots soak up moisture.
  3. Overwater another sponge to show what happens when plants get too much water.

This activity visually demonstrates how plants need just the right amount of water to grow.

4. Nutrients in Soil: Comparing Growth

Teach kids that soil contains nutrients that plants need to grow. Fill two pots with different types of soil—one rich in compost and another with plain sand. Let children plant seeds in both and observe how they grow. This experiment highlights the importance of nutrient-rich soil for healthy plants.

5. Space to Grow: The Crowded Plant Test

Plants need space to spread their roots and access sunlight. Have kids plant seeds close together in one pot and spaced out in another. Over time, they will notice that crowded plants struggle to grow. This simple test reinforces why spacing is essential for healthy plant development.

Teaching kids about what plants need to grow through hands-on activities fosters curiosity and scientific thinking. By experimenting with sunlight, water, soil, and space, children gain a deeper understanding of what plants need to thrive. Whether at home or in a classroom, these fun lessons make learning about nature both exciting and memorable.

How to Prepare for Overnight Tornadoes

How to Prepare for Overnight Tornadoes
How to Prepare for Overnight Tornadoes

How to Prepare for Overnight Tornadoes

Tornadoes are among the most unpredictable and destructive natural disasters, and preparing for overnight tornadoes requires some advanced planning. Unlike daytime storms, nighttime tornadoes happen when many people are sleeping, and there isn't much time to get to safety once a warning is issued.   Here are several things you need to do to prepare for overnight tornadoes.

Understand the Risks

Before you can effectively prepare, it’s important to understand the risks associated with tornadoes. The peak tornado season varies by region, but many areas are most vulnerable from spring into early summer. Familiarize yourself with local weather patterns and take note of any tornado watches or warnings issued by the National Weather Service. Knowing your area’s risk for tornadoes can help you stay vigilant, especially when weather conditions are severe.

Create a Family Emergency Plan

Your family emergency plan should outline steps to take ahead of time. Designate a safe location in your home, such as a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor, away from windows. Ensure that all family members know this location and practice getting there quickly. Additionally, plan for your pets—include their needs in your emergency precautions.

Create your own Emergency Plan for Families
The Create Your Own Emergency Plan for Families is available here.

It can also be beneficial to establish a communication plan. Ensure that everyone in your family has a way to contact each other in case you are separated. Choose a relative or friend outside of the area as a point of contact to facilitate information sharing during an emergency.

Build an Emergency Kit

Every household should have an emergency kit, especially in tornado-prone areas. Your kit should include:

Water:  At least one gallon of water per person per day for three days.

Non-perishable food:  Enough for three days, including items like canned goods, granola bars, and dried fruit.

Flashlights and Batteries:  Power outages are common during severe storms. A flashlight will help you navigate safely.

First-aid Kit:  Include basic medical supplies and any prescription medications your family members may need.

Weather radio:  A battery-powered or hand-crank radio can keep you informed about unfolding situations.

Stay Informed

In the digital age, staying informed has become easier than ever. Download weather apps and ensure that alerts are enabled on your smartphones. Local news stations also provide weather updates. Consider purchasing a NOAA Weather Radio for emergency alerts, and keep it in a designated area so it’s easy to access during severe storms.

Make Preparations Ahead of Storms

The key to effective tornado preparedness is to act proactively. If severe weather is forecasted, take the time to secure your home. Clear away debris from your yard that could become projectiles. Ensure that windows and doors are locked, and pull down any outdoor furniture that could cause damage.

Create a safe space for your family and pets well before a storm arrives—a relaxing and organized retreat can help ease anxiety during an emergency.

Being prepared for overnight tornadoes can make all the difference when seconds count. By understanding the risks, having an emergency plan, securing a well-equipped emergency kit, and trusting reliable information sources, you can increase your chances of safety in the event of a tornado. Don’t wait until the last minute—invest the time now to ensure that you and your loved ones are ready when severe weather threatens your area. Stay safe!

Teaching Kids About Rainbows and Colors

Rainbows and colors are fun topics for kids. Teaching kids about rainbows and colors not only introduces them to the wonders of nature but also helps them understand basic science concepts like light, refraction, and color mixing. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or homeschooler, this post will provide fun ways to teach kids about rainbows and colors in an interactive and memorable way.

What is a Rainbow?

A rainbow is a beautiful arc of colors that appears in the sky when sunlight passes through raindrops. This process, known as refraction, bends the light, splitting it into different colors. The order of colors in a rainbow is always the same: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet (ROYGBIV).

Wooden Rainbow Stacker Nesting Puzzle Blocks
This Wooden Rainbow Stacker Nesting Puzzle Blocks Set is available here.

Why Do Rainbows Form?

Rainbows occur when sunlight interacts with water droplets in the air. When light enters a raindrop, it slows down, bends, and reflects inside the droplet before exiting and spreading out into the different colors of the spectrum. This natural phenomenon can be observed after rainfall or near waterfalls and sprinklers on sunny days.

Fun Activities to Teach Kids About Rainbows

1. Make a Rainbow with a Prism

Using a glass prism, you can show children how white light splits into different colors. Simply shine sunlight or a flashlight through the prism onto a white surface, and watch a mini rainbow appear! This hands-on activity is a great way to demonstrate refraction.

2. Create a Rainbow with Water and a Mirror

Fill a glass bowl with water and place a small mirror inside at an angle. Shine a flashlight onto the mirror, and a rainbow will reflect onto a nearby wall. This simple experiment helps kids understand how water bends light to create colors.

3. Rainbow Scavenger Hunt

Encourage children to find objects around the house or outdoors that match the colors of the rainbow. This fun game helps them learn color recognition and improves observation skills.

4. Mixing Colors with Paint

Teach kids about primary and secondary colors by letting them mix paints. Use red, blue, and yellow paint to create new colors (e.g., red and yellow make orange, blue and yellow make green). This hands-on experience reinforces how colors blend.

5. DIY Rainbow Craft

Create a paper rainbow using construction paper or tissue paper. Have kids arrange the colors in the correct order and glue them onto a sheet of paper. This activity strengthens fine motor skills and helps them remember the sequence of colors.

The Science of Colors

Colors come from light, and the way we see colors depends on how light is absorbed and reflected by objects. The primary colors (red, blue, and yellow) can be combined to create secondary colors (orange, green, and purple). Understanding color theory helps kids develop creativity and problem-solving skills.

Teaching kids about rainbows and colors is a fun and educational way to explore science and nature. By using hands-on activities, experiments, and creative crafts, children can learn about light, refraction, and color mixing in a fun and engaging way. Encourage curiosity and observation, and your little learners will develop a lifelong appreciation for the magic of rainbows and colors!

What Do Farmers Do in the Spring? (Activity Ideas for Kids)

What Do Farmers Do in the Spring? (Activity Ideas for Kids)
What Do Farmers Do in the Spring?  (Activity Ideas for Kids)

What Do Farmers Do in the Spring?

Spring is an exciting time on the farm! As the weather warms up, farmers get busy preparing for the growing season. But what exactly do farmers do in the spring? Let’s explore some of the important jobs that happen on a farm during this time of year.

1. Preparing the Fields

One of the first things farmers do in the spring is get the fields ready for planting. After a long winter, the soil needs to be prepared for new crops. Farmers use tractors and special tools to break up the soil, remove weeds, and add nutrients. This helps seeds grow strong and healthy.

Teachers and parents: You can show children how farmers prepare soil by letting them dig in a garden or sandbox. Talk about how plants need good soil to grow!

Around the Farm 30-Button Animal Sound Book - Great for First Words is available here.

2. Planting Seeds

Once the fields are ready, it’s time to plant seeds! Farmers grow many kinds of crops, like corn, wheat, and vegetables. Some farmers plant seeds using machines, while others plant by hand.

At home or in the classroom, kids can plant their own seeds in small pots or gardens. Watching a seed sprout and grow is a fun way to learn about farming!

Miracle GRO My First Root Viewer
The Miracle GRO My First Root Viewer is available here.

3. Taking Care of Baby Animals

Spring is also a time for new life on the farm! Many animals, like cows, sheep, and chickens, have babies in the spring. Farmers work hard to take care of these baby animals by making sure they have food, water, and a safe place to live.

Kids love learning about baby animals! You can read books about farm animals or visit a local farm to see them up close.

4. Fixing Fences and Farm Equipment

During the winter, fences and farm tools can get damaged. In the spring, farmers check their equipment and make repairs so everything works properly. They fix fences to keep animals safe and make sure tractors and other machines are ready for work.

A fun activity for children is to pretend to be farmers fixing things! They can use toy tools to “repair” fences made of blocks or craft sticks.

5. Watching the Weather

Farmers pay close attention to the weather in the spring. Too much rain can flood the fields, and not enough rain can make it hard for crops to grow. Farmers also look out for late frosts, which can harm young plants.

You can talk to kids about the weather by keeping a weather chart. Track sunny, rainy, and windy days to see how the weather changes in spring!

Why Is Spring Important for Farmers?

Spring is one of the busiest times of the year on a farm! Farmers work hard to grow the food we eat and take care of animals. By learning about farming, kids can understand where their food comes from and appreciate the hard work of farmers.

Want to bring farming fun to your home or classroom? Try planting a garden, visiting a farm, or reading books about farm life. Spring is the perfect time to explore the world of farming!

Here's a list of other activities you can do with your kids to teach them about what farmers do in the spring.

Kingdom Finances: Honoring God with Our Money

Kingdom Finances: Honoring God with Our Money
Kingdom Finances: Honoring God with Our Money

Kingdom Finances: Honoring God with Our Money

The rising costs of groceries and other things we need for daily living can make balancing our budgets challenging.  It's easy to get in the mindset of viewing money as a means to an end, but as believers, we are called to a higher standard.  Kingdom finances involve honoring God with our money, seeing it as a tool for His purposes rather than just a way to keep the bills paid.  When we change our mindset to see money as not our own, but God's money that He has given to us to steward, it can deepen our relationship with God.  Then we see our money as Kingdom Finances and we can live a lifestyle of honoring God with our money.

Understanding Kingdom Finances

Kingdom finances are rooted in Biblical principles that guide us in handling our money wisely and generously. The Bible emphasizes that everything we have ultimately belongs to God.  Acknowledging God as the owner of all gives us a different perspective on our wealth and resources.

The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, the world, and those who live in it. - Psalm 24:1

The Principle of Stewardship

At the heart of honoring God with our finances is the concept of stewardship. Stewardship means that we are not the ultimate owners of our resources; instead, we are caretakers. This mindset encourages us to manage our finances in ways that align with God’s will. Matthew 25:14-30 tells the parable of the talents, illustrating the importance of using our resources wisely and productively. When we view our finances through the lens of stewardship, we prioritize God's kingdom above our material desires.

For it is just like a man about to go on a journey, who called his own slaves and entrusted his possessions to them. To one he gave five talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and he went on his journey. The one who had received the five talents immediately went and did business with them, and earned five more talents. In the same way the one who had received the two talents earned two more. But he who received the one talent went away and dug a hole in the ground, and hid his master’s money.

“Now after a long time the master of those slaves came and settled accounts with them. The one who had received the five talents came up and brought five more talents, saying, ‘Master, you entrusted five talents to me. See, I have earned five more talents.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter the joy of your master.’

“Also the one who had received the two talents came up and said, ‘Master, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have earned two more talents.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter the joy of your master.’

“Now the one who had received the one talent also came up and said, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter seed. And I was afraid, so I went away and hid your talent in the ground. See, you still have what is yours.’

“But his master answered and said to him, ‘You worthless, lazy slave! Did you know that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter seed? Then you ought to have put my money in the bank, and on my arrival I would have received my money back with interest. Therefore: take the talent away from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.’

“For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. And throw the worthless slave into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Generosity as a Reflection of Faith

Honoring God with our money is not just about how we spend; it's also about how we give. Generosity is a reflection of our faith and trust in God’s provision. 2 Corinthians 9:7 reminds us that God loves a cheerful giver. Giving to the church and supporting those in need are tangible ways to demonstrate our commitment to honoring God with our resources. By practicing generosity, we align our hearts with God's priorities and help advance His Kingdom on earth.

Each one must do just as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. - 2 Corinthians 9:7

Budgeting: Honoring God with Our Planning

Another practical aspect of Kingdom finances is budgeting. Creating a budget that reflects our values and priorities allows us to allocate our funds wisely. The Biblical principles of saving, investing, and spending thoughtfully can help ensure we honor God in our financial decisions. When we create a budget, we can set aside a portion for giving, a portion for savings, and ensure our spending aligns with our faith-based values.

Trusting God in Financial Decisions

It’s important to acknowledge that honoring God with our finances requires faith. In moments of financial uncertainty, we may be tempted to rely solely on our own understanding or resources. However, Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” By placing our trust in God, we can navigate our financial decisions confidently, knowing He is our ultimate provider.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. - Proverbs 3:5-6

Living with an Eternal Perspective

Finally, honoring God with our money requires an eternal perspective. Colossians 3:2 urges us to set our minds on things above, not on earthly things. This perspective encourages us to invest in what truly matters: relationships, community, and the spreading of the Gospel. As we prioritize Kingdom investments over material gain, we cultivate a life that reflects God’s love and purpose.

Kingdom finances encompass more than managing money—they represent a lifestyle of worship and obedience. By embracing stewardship, practicing generosity, budgeting wisely, trusting God, and maintaining an eternal perspective, we truly honor God with our finances. Every financial choice we make holds the potential to glorify God and further His Kingdom.

Welcome to the 28-Day Kingdom Finances Challenge!

In a world that often measures success by wealth and possessions, it’s easy to develop mindsets about money that are shaped more by culture than by Christ. But as faith-led entrepreneurs and believers, we are called to view finances through the lens of God’s Word—understanding that money is not the goal, but a tool for Kingdom impact.

This 28-day challenge is designed to help you align your finances with God’s principles, renew your mind about money, and take practical steps to steward your resources wisely.

Whether you’ve struggled with financial stress, uncertainty about how to manage what God has entrusted to you, or simply desire to deepen your understanding of Biblical wealth, this journey will help you shift your mindset from scarcity to abundance, from fear to faith, and from self-reliance to full dependence on God as your Provider.

Each day, you will receive:

✅ A Scripture focus to meditate on and apply

✅ A short reflection to challenge and renew your perspective

✅ A practical task to take action and implement Biblical financial stewardship

By the end of this challenge, you’ll not only have a clearer understanding of God's design for money, but you’ll also have taken meaningful steps toward financial alignment with His will—allowing you to experience greater peace, provision, and purpose in your business and personal life.
