A Deeper Look at Psalm 23

The devotional opens by reminding us that Psalm 23 is not a plea—it’s a declaration. David, the psalmist, isn’t begging God for help; he’s confidently affirming who God is and how He cares for His people. Statements like “I shall not want” and “I will fear no evil” are not hopeful wishes—they are firm proclamations rooted in unshakable trust.

Each page of the devotional focuses on one verse from Psalm 23, making it ideal for daily or weekly study. Whether you're new to Bible journaling or a seasoned believer, Psalm 23: A Prayer of Trust and Provision helps you reflect on God’s faithfulness in every season of life.

What You’ll Find Inside

  • Verse-by-verse devotionals: Each section offers a Scripture-based teaching that reveals the character of God as Provider, Protector, and Restorer.

  • Reflection questions: Thought-provoking prompts help you engage personally with each verse.

  • Journal space: Ample lines are provided for you to write down your thoughts, prayers, or spiritual insights.

Why This Psalm Still Matters

Psalm 23 is one of the most quoted passages in the Bible for a reason—it speaks directly to our need for comfort, guidance, and assurance. Whether you're walking through a difficult valley or resting in a season of peace, this devotional helps remind you that God is present, leading and providing every step of the way.

This short yet meaningful study can be used for:

  • Personal quiet time

  • Small group Bible study

  • Family devotions

  • Gifts of encouragement

A Declaration for Today

Let Psalm 23: A Prayer of Trust and Provision become more than just words on a page. Let it be your declaration—a prayer of trust in the God who never leaves your side. This devotional is more than a study tool—it’s an invitation to rest in the sufficiency, protection, and love of the Good Shepherd.

Summer Safety for Kids: Essential Tips for a Fun and Safe Season

Summer is a season filled with sunshine, outdoor adventures, and family fun. But while kids are enjoying the warm weather, parents and caregivers must prioritize summer safety for kids to prevent accidents and keep everyone healthy and happy. From sunburns to bug bites, and playground mishaps to water hazards, summer brings unique challenges. Here are practical tips to ensure your children have a safe and enjoyable summer break.

1. Sun Safety is a Must

Children’s skin is especially sensitive to the sun’s rays. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to all exposed skin, even on cloudy days. Reapply every two hours or immediately after swimming or sweating. Dress your kids in lightweight, long-sleeved shirts, wide-brimmed hats, and sunglasses with UV protection. Encourage playtime in shaded areas during peak sun hours, usually from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

2. Stay Hydrated

Hot temperatures can quickly lead to dehydration in children. Make sure your kids drink water frequently, especially during outdoor play or sports. Avoid sugary drinks and sodas, which can contribute to dehydration. Keep reusable water bottles handy and remind children to take frequent water breaks.

3. Water Safety Awareness

Whether it’s a pool, beach, or backyard splash pad, water safety is crucial. Always supervise children around water, no matter their age or swimming ability. Enroll kids in age-appropriate swimming lessons to build their confidence and skills. Ensure your home pool is surrounded by a fence with a self-latching gate and keep life jackets available for inexperienced swimmers or boating activities.

4. Prevent Heat-Related Illnesses

Heat exhaustion and heatstroke are real dangers for active children. Watch for symptoms like dizziness, nausea, excessive sweating, or confusion. Dress kids in light-colored, breathable clothing and schedule outdoor activities in the cooler parts of the day. Let them rest in shaded or air-conditioned areas regularly to cool down.

5. Insect and Bug Protection

Mosquitoes, ticks, and other insects are more active during the summer months. Use child-safe insect repellents when outdoors, especially in wooded or grassy areas. Check your children for ticks after playing outside, and teach them to avoid tall grass or brush. Keep your yard trimmed and eliminate standing water to reduce mosquito breeding areas.

6. Playground and Bike Safety

Ensure that playgrounds are well-maintained and age-appropriate. Supervise children on slides, swings, and climbing equipment to prevent falls and injuries. When biking, skating, or scootering, children should always wear properly fitting helmets and protective gear. Teach them traffic safety rules and make sure bikes are in good working condition.

By taking a few extra precautions, you can ensure a safe summer for kids filled with fun and learning. From sun protection and hydration to water and playground safety, these simple tips can help your family make the most of the season without accidents or stress. Stay safe, be prepared, and enjoy every sunny moment!

Grace in the Transition: Encouragement for Women in Perimenopause

Grace for the Transition: Encouragement for Women in Perimenopause

Perimenopause is a season of transition that can leave many women feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and even invisible. Hormonal fluctuations can lead to unexpected emotional shifts, fatigue, changes in sleep patterns, and physical discomfort. Yet, in the midst of it all, God’s grace remains constant. His presence does not waver, even when your body and emotions feel like they are.

In 2 Corinthians 12:9, Paul reminds us of God’s promise:

And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.”

These words are not just for times of spiritual struggle—they are for every moment of human frailty, including the very real physical and emotional changes of perimenopause.

This stage of life is not a punishment or a loss of purpose. Instead, it can be seen as a sacred invitation to rest more deeply in God’s care. When energy wanes and confidence is shaken, it is an opportunity to lean not on your own strength, but on His unchanging grace.

The transition through perimenopause can also be a spiritual awakening. Many women find that this is a time when God gently calls them to slow down and realign their identity—not in their roles, productivity, or appearance—but in Christ alone. Isaiah 46:4 says,

Even to your old age I will be the same,
And even to your graying years I will carry you!
I have done it, and I will bear you;
And I will carry you and I will save you.
What a comforting promise! God, who created you and has sustained you from birth, will carry you through this season too.

Practically, grace in this season means allowing yourself to rest without guilt, setting healthy boundaries, and seeking support when needed. Whether it’s through prayer, counseling, or community with other women, God often extends His grace through the people and resources around us.

Remember also the power of praise. Worship lifts our perspective and reminds us of God's sovereignty. Psalm 34:5 declares,

They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces will never be ashamed.

When the mirror reflects changes you didn’t expect, lift your eyes to the One who never changes. In His eyes, you are radiant with His love and purpose.

If you are navigating perimenopause, take heart. You are not alone. God sees you, hears you, and walks with you through every moment. His grace is not just enough—it is abundant, overflowing, and perfectly tailored for your needs.

Let this season be marked not by fear or frustration, but by faith. Let it be a time when God meets you tenderly in your weakness and shows you His strength.

Perimenopause may feel like a fading of what once was, but in God’s hands, it is a beautiful unfolding of who you are becoming.

Confidence in Christ: Overcoming Insecurity

Confidence in Christ: Overcoming Insecurity

In a world where comparison and self-doubt run rampant, insecurity can erode our sense of identity and worth. Whether it's questioning our abilities, appearance, or value, insecurity whispers lies that distract us from God's Truth. But as believers, we are not called to live in fear or uncertainty. True, lasting confidence is found not in ourselves but in Christ alone.

Understanding Insecurity

Insecurity often stems from relying on external validation or our own performance to determine our worth. Social media, societal expectations, and personal failures can magnify feelings of inadequacy. But Scripture reminds us that our identity is not defined by the world—it's rooted in God's unchanging truth.

Ephesians 2:10 declares,

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

You are not a mistake. You are His workmanship, created with purpose and value.

Our Identity in Christ

Confidence begins with understanding who we are in Christ. When we accept Jesus as Savior, we are made new (2 Corinthians 5:17). Our past no longer defines us, and our value is no longer dependent on human standards.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Galatians 2:20 proclaims,

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

Your life is now anchored in Jesus—the One who is perfect, unchanging, and victorious. When He lives in you, your confidence is secure.

Combating Insecurity with God's Word

To overcome insecurity, we must replace lies with truth. The enemy wants to steal our confidence, but God's Word equips us to stand firm.

  • Lie: "I'm not good enough."
Truth: "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." (2 Corinthians 12:9)

  • Lie: "No one sees me or values me."
Truth: "The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will rejoice over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy." (Zephaniah 3:17)

  • Lie: "I can't do this."
Truth: "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13)

Walking in Confidence Daily

Confidence in Christ is not arrogance or self-reliance. It's a humble trust in God's power working through us. Each day, choose to believe what God says about you. Pray for renewed perspective, read Scripture daily, and surround yourself with faith-filled encouragement.

James 1:6 reminds us not to doubt when we ask God for wisdom and strength:

But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.

Confidence grows as we take small steps of faith, trusting God with each one.

You are not your fears, failures, or flaws. You are a child of God, called, chosen, and equipped. Insecurity may knock at your door, but you don't have to let it in. Root your heart in Christ and walk boldly in the confidence that comes from knowing Him.

Let this truth anchor you:

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus.  (Philippians 1:6)

Confidence in Christ isn't wishful thinking—it's a powerful reality.

Walk in it.
