The Creation Museum: A Genesis Learning Experience

Our trip to the Creation Museum was quiet an adventure. It rained on us all the way there and all the way back. The rains were torrential. There were times when we could barely see in front of us. I kept waiting for Noah to float by and bring us back home on the Ark, but the trip was worth it!  There are so many things to see, read, and interact with at the Creation Museum.  I highly recommend that you plan a trip there.  Your Creation Museum experience will make the book of Genesis come alive as you travel through it and absorb all the information and models.

Here is a collection of photos from our trip.  All photos are my own.  If you share them, please reference this blog and provide a link back to this blog.  Thank you!

Photos From Our Trip to the Creation Museum

All photos in this post are the property of Abundant Family Living (Tina Truelove) (c) 2013.

The photo above was taken at the main entrance. There are a lot of dinosaur exhibits at the museum. This one is displayed in the main entrance area. It’s not the best photo. I was in a hurry to get to the planetarium. The planetarium show, Fire in the Sky, was about to begin. Fire in the Sky is a show about how asteroids prove “Intelligent Design.” It is a must see.  Here is an online resource about Fires in the Sky for kids.

One of the first things I noticed was the life-like manikins – and I DO mean LIFELIKE. Before arriving at the museum, I saw a photo similar to this one in a brochure. I thought they had brought a huge chunk of earth containing fossils into the museum to show visitors how fossils are collected. I didn’t realize until we entered into this area that the “people” in the photo are actually manikins. They looked so real! Even though these geologists aren’t real people, the display does show visitors how fossils are safely collected.

The museum is filled with beautifully organized charts which make it easy to understand the validity of the Bible from Genesis to Revelations and how history and science provide profound evidence of Biblical accounts and Intelligent Design.

I couldn't get over how real-looking the manikins were.

Before the Fall of Man

When you visit the museum, you will walk through an area which depicts what life on earth was like for Adam, Eve, and the rest of creation before the fall of man. You will notice beautiful animals and gardens. Oh, how I wish we could still live like that.

The next area of the museum depicts life here on earth after the fall of man, after Eve was deceived and after she and Adam ate from the forbidden tree.

This spider looked way too real!

God declared that men would have to work hard for their food. Unlike before the fall, weeds would begin to grow.

God declared that women would experience great pain during childbirth. Having gone through 4 deliveries of my own, I always said I would have a word with Eve when I get to Heaven. 😉

Sin entered the world: greed, lust, theft, murder. Man no longer inhabited the Garden of Eden.

These men in the picture below depict workers who made fun of Noah for building such a big boat on dry land.

Man became so sinful that God decided to destroy the earth by flood. He commanded a righteous man named Noah to build an Ark. He was given specific instructions about how to build it and how many animals to house on board. Only Noah’s family and a specific number of animals, 2 or 7 (depending on the animal) – male and female – would be saved from the flood waters.

Both large and small scale models depict what life might have been like aboard the Ark during the flood.

Children enjoy interactive devices to help them learn about Noah and the flood. Touch-screens are available around the Ark area of the museum.

Children learn about dinosaurs and many other things. They will read popular questions about creation and then lift the knobs to find Biblical answers. Each answer is supported with scripture.

Outside the museum is a beautiful garden. Guests can enjoy walking across bridges, over streams, and enjoy pretty little waterfalls.

Unfortunately, the rainy weather didn’t allow us near as much time in the garden as we would have liked. Our journey through the garden was cut short. We decided to leave a little early and go into the city of Cincinnati, Ohio for dinner. The Creation Museum is located in Petersburg, Kentucky. The city of Cincinnati is only a few minutes away.
