Live Generously (Generosity Series)

Live generously.  Generosity is more about what God wants for you than from you.

Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return. - Luke 6:38

The following are my Bible study notes based on my pastor's sermon titled "Generosity is the Best Kept Secret."  You are invited to watch, listen, and worship with us here.

Live Generously

God is a generous provider.  He wants us to mirror His generosity.  Living generously is a powerful witness to God's love in action.   Generous living increasingly represents God's heart in the world.  We should live so that we are increasingly growing and maturing in generosity.
You will be enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God. Because of the proof given by this ministry, they will glorify God for your obedience to your confession of the gospel of Christ and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all. - 2 Corinthians 9:11-13

This is the devotional we are using at out church through this series on generous living:  Whole-Life Generosity Devotional by Skye Jethani.  Order yours now and then come back here to go through the entire serious with us.

Paul taught, challenged, and encouraged the Corinthians to live generously.

We are called to authenticity.  When we give generously with a generous heart, we live in authentic obedience.

If we are obedient, we are willing to position our hearts to hear God's voice and we are prepared to do whatever God says.
But just as you abound in everything, in faith and utterance and knowledge and in all earnestness and in the love we inspired in you, see that you abound in this gracious work also. I am not speaking this as a command, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity of your love also. - 2 Corinthians 8:7-8
When tithing, be consistent.  Consider growing in the following levels of giving through tithing.

1.  Tithing your 10%.
2.  Expanding - giving more than 10%.
3.  Extravagant - giving abundantly out of your gift of abundance.
Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! - 2 Corinthians 9:15

Are you living a life of obedience?
